ICMBIO
The most recognized Brazilian natural scenarios are legally protected by the government as Conservation Units. Protecting this environmental heritage is part of the actions of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) as a federal public institution.
Two federal Conservation Units form the Fernando de Noronha archipelago: the Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park (PARNAMAR) and the Fernando de Noronha - Rocas - São Pedro e São Paulo Environmental Protection Area (APA).
In the National Park, visitation is organized according to the guidelines available on this site.
The island's diverse visitor support structures are located in the Environmental Protection Area, such as inns, restaurants, schools, and hospitals. The management of the island's infrastructure is carried out by the Territorial Authority of the State District of Fernando de Noronha (ATDEFN), governed within the State of Pernambuco.
